Apple granted new iPad patent

Apple was granted a new, quite interesting patent that would make a potentially very appealing change to the iPad: a landscape docking connector. We’ve already seen such things on several different devices over the past couple of years, but I think it could be much more appealing on the iPad.

Another interesting thing demonstrated in the patent is that it would appear to include a FaceTime camera. Of course, this is to be expected with Apple’s current lineup.

Changes such as these could give apple a competitive edge against some vendors, but the unfortunate thing is that having two dock connectors could be awkward, not to mention if it were mounted in landscape, FaceTime would be uncomfortable too.
